>Yazz and Jim Jaffe make a strong case for an independent professionally edited
alumni magazine. Just in the past year I have received alumni magazines from 8
different colleges and universities (Just give a place a little donation and you
will get on their mailing list.) Uniformly they were very well edited and
reflected the special characteristics of the institution. For example, College
of the Atlantic in Bar Harbor, Maine, a tiny college just 10 miles from here and
about 30 years old with human ecology as its specialty, does a great job of
featuring alums who are making a major difference (Amy Goodman!) often as
environmentalists. Harvard and Penn, in particular, print controversial articles
and the angry letters in response.

Jim, are you related to my classmate, Judy Jaffe?
