[Alumni-chat] student on the BOT

To quote:

I think the idea of student trustees is a logical - and
understandable - outgrowth of the disgust with Murdock & Co.'s
blatant disregard for Antioch's institutional structure by ignoring
Adcil and making announcements relating to the College's status while
students were away for the summer. But there are practicalities
involved:

   * Can the student away on co-op necessarily get to trustees'
meetings?

   * Does a "student" seat expire when the student graduates or
withdraws, or does a student move into the "alumni/former student"
compartment?

   * Can a student sit on the BOT and simultaneously hold a seat on
Adcil or Comcil and if so, what are the democratic implications?

I wonder:

could a student be appointed for, say, a year, and get partial co-op
credit for the time spent, or something? Perhaps some kind of extra
work could be added, such as researching the history, or laws, or
some aspect that affects the college, such as accreditation or
marketing, or research on how the current student/faculty body feels
about the current curriculum and how it could be improved, etc. It
could be very educational, at the same time that student perspective
could help the college, and it would always be fresh, with new
students coming in each year and contributing some kind of research.
I think it would not be best to appoint just one student for several
years. I'd rather see it rotate, so more students can have the
experience.
