Today at the Community Day free lunch (is there such a thing?) Sue Weldon
and I sang a little ditty that we had written just for the occasion. What
follows is our song.

Antioch
(sung to the tune of Rocky Top)
Lyrics by Sue Weldon and Sandy Coulter

Wish that I was at ole Antioch
In bucolic Yellow Springs
Ain't no smoggy smoke at Antioch
We have banned these things (hold up cigarettes or big honkin' cigars)

Ole Horace Mann built himself a college
In the wilderness in 1853
Mean ole trustees tried to shut us down
But the Alums want to set us free

Chorus: Antioch you’ll always be home sweet home to me
                Good ole Antioch
                Antioch in Yellow Springs
                Antioch in Yellow Springs

Horace is looking down on Antioch
Through the clear blue sky
What would Horace say to you?
Be ashamed to let it die!

Where did all the faculty gather

ith their lawyers in tow?
Huddling for warmth in unheated buildings
Pete Townsend shoveling snow

Chorus

All of us at the OK Library
Still see Joe Cali's frown
As we try to fill his footsteps
And tell you, "Don't fall down"

Chorus
Yellow Springs Ohio
Yee Haw!
(added to the last chorus)

Hope this brightens your day!

Sandy Coulter
Staff and someday alum(?)
