Travis:
It has always been my theory that one should never act out of anger. It makes for bad decision-making. Anger should be expressed (lest it fester) and then one must move on.
It is probably a good idea to be motivated by righteousness, truth and the like. Anger only poisons. And yes, pragmatism is always a good idea. I woundn't encourage anyone to be angry. I would encourage research, ideas and open debate and action based on all of the above. Of course, I don't know if such a thing is possible here but it is a good goal.
Your old pal,

>>I am interested in words--not necessarily for press release or twisting but for 501(3)K mission and by-laws. If there is a task that needs to be done to accomplish this getting posted or created, I would gladly assist. The responses have been "good suggestion" or we will take that into consideration or it is being worked on....etc. No desire to assign a task.

>can you access antiochians.org? Scribstress has posted the status of the 501 several times.

>As for the mission that was the very first document posted on the site. You could also just take the original mission statement of the college before the university added its name and that is the mission of the college.

>As for models of governance, specific proposals and structures you will appreciate that the process is by no means a closed one, one simply has to join the mailing list for the particular committee they are interested in and then participate. The only other requirement is that for obvious strategic reasons there are some conversations which are considered confidential. I have learned in the past three months (read my many turns in my past posts) that though I want more than anything to shame Toni, Art, et al into resignation and that I find it amazing that Glenn Watts was allowed almost single handedly to destroy the college through his mania for depreciation and total misunderstanding of urlac's and he should be abused even after he enters the grave, that at the end of the day they have no shame, Glenn has moved on and the AUBoT is not going to be shamed or beaten into anything. They have all the cards.

>Deb and sister sara and others were correct in saying that we had no power to force the AUBoT to do anything, unless we wanted to fight over a corpse. I have to admit, and feel considerable loathing for it, that pragmatism is going to win the day. Anger can and has sustained my energy to stay active in the struggle but showing it to the AUBoT and blaming the AB for collaboration will yield the same result: failure. This battle between idealism and pragmatism is a nasty place to be.
>
>Do not expect to see an Antioch College that is immediately emancipated from the University. While I do not even pretend to understand the motivations of the AUBoT I do know that they simply will not allow it upfront, perhaps because it would mean admitting that they had failed their alma mater. It is a bitter fucking irony that we are now in the position of raising the funds and leadership that they failed to, and at the end they get to decide if our efforts are up to snuff!!! Awful. Perhaps the faculty suit will bring pressure from another side and the disclosure of evidence of incompetence and malfeasance from Glenn Watts, Jim Craiglow etc will lead them to consider letting go. Perhaps the faculty suit will make them more defensive still and stiffen their resolve to hang on at all costs.

>I am rambeling here, but the point I am trying to make is that there will not be a revolution that allows us to put their heads on stakes. At the same time though I want to encourage the alumni to be angry, and to let the righteous anger drive them to raise money, propose new governance models etc. If you go to the wiki you can see a governance proposal that I developed based on the historic governance of the college and the desire to return the faculty to the preeminent position in the management of the college, if not the University. The version posted there is my opinion and does not neccesarily represent anyone else's POV, but it is a proposal from one Alum to all the others.
