I also had a coop job as a waiter/bartender at the Olde Trail, though I
arranged it myself. Herb the co-owner with Shep prepared the meatballs for
the spaghetti and the meatball sandwiches himself. Sort of a ritual. Herb
also refused to let the jukebox company update the music on the juke. That's
why Fred Waring was still on the jukebox in 1971. I can't remember the name
of the cook but she was from Fairborn. I worked at the Antioch Inn as a
waiter at lunch. This was early 70's before the strike years. My last year I
hung at Com's almost every night. The delicious though greasy food was the
perfect accompaniment to the mass quantities of beer friends and I consumed
there.

Here's some obscure Antiochiana for you. Because I lacked a coop semester to
graduate I was given a coop job at the Olde Trail Tavern as a waiter. Most
of the students recognized me and no one ever left a tip. This was in 1950.
Another memory was the wonderful fried chicken prepared by Goldie Mills, the
cook at coms. She was related to the Mills Brothers, a singing group at that
time. They originated in YS, I believe. We all called her Mom. She, Com and
Goldie were the salt of the earth. I still remember spending time drinking
beer at an impromptu party after hours in their back yard. Bob Abrams '50
