Hi From Yazz (David Roger) Allen '66 (YazzAllen at Yahoo.Com)!
Gary Goldsmith included mention of the 68 Cafe in his great SONGS FROM THE STOOP (1964) LP record album of Antioch College satire / parody songs. To the tune of "Hernando's Hideaway" song, he sung the words ".....and in your food are cigarettes! And sick is what one usually gets! It's called...the 68 Cafe, ooh-lay!"
Elvis records were STILL on the 68 Cafe Jukebox in the middle 60's! That man was wonderful!
Amazon.com sells a great "Best of Elvis...His 31 top hits!" CD for only $9 plus postage, etc.....You end up paying about $14....every penny worth it.
I first heard HeartBreak Hotel in 1956 on a drug stor jukebox near my home in Baltimore MD USA when Elvis was only 21 years old (he's be 72 now if he were still with us!).
"Since my baaaaaaa-bee left me! I found a new place to dwell!
It's down at the eeeeeeeeeeeeend of Lonely Street....at Heartbreak Hotel!
Iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit's so lonely babeee.....yes its so lonlely babee...........
Baybeee......it's soooooooo lonely....I could DIE!"
"So if your baybeee leaves you...and you have a tale to tell............etc., etc."
Need I say more?
Best,
Yazz (YazzAllen at Yahoo.Com)
