Hi, Zundapman,

Enjoyed your commentary on the Yellow Springs scene of the early Sixties.

I can't comment much about the DeWine side of Mike DeWine's background. However, his maternal grandfather, Professor Albert Liddle, taught Literature at Antioch from 1927 until his retirement in 1961. Mike has a B.A. in Education and is currently teaching, so perhaps his interest in Antioch might not be as remote as we think.

I don't particularly like Mike DeWine's politics, although his Wikipedia entry indicates that he's capable of breaking lockstep with his Republican cohorts on subjects such as gun control, Head Start, and the minimum wage. I doubt that I would vote for him in his upcoming run for governor. But a man who was twice elected to the U.S. Senate probably knows a thing or two about fund raising and getting things done. Maybe it would be worthwhile for someone with access to Mike to take him to lunch and see if he has any suggestions regarding saving Antioch. Desperate times call for desperate measures.
