[Alumni-chat] Why we should be rejoicing...

Can you say "mixed message?" First you say don't hurl insults, but then you imply that I think I'm smarter than y'all. Hmm. I guess it's okay if you do it.

Thank you for reading my posts and giving your positive comments. I am, at base, trying to add as much as I can to the transparency of this process.

As to my "blowing into" this forum after three months, count again. I've been on since the site went up in June. I don't post unless I have something constructive to say. Unfortunately, when I was finally able to provide substantial constructive information, I was attacked.

Which brings me to "dedicated and inciteful." Travis and Alan are neither. They're trolls and worse, they're bullies, having bludgeoned several individuals away from these forums with their unwarranted negativity and childish belittlement. For example:

"I love Risa. Risa for Senate, Risa for President. Risa with her own shiny new key to the development office. Rick is right. Now is the time. But Risa and Rick should also be realistic, as should we all, $100MM is not needed tomorrow, or even next year. Planned giving and timed donations are more likely than $100MM cash."

If Travis thinks he can raise funds better than Risa Grimes AND Rick Daily combined, then he should get his ass to YSO and take over. Otherwise, I'm going to support the intelligent woman who's been doing this type of job for decades and has her fingertips on the pulse of the donors with the fat checkbooks. If Travis can't do better, and if Travis can't make constructive suggestions, then he should hold his tongue.

Of course, now the cry will arise "he's squelching our speach." Feh. We should be so lucky. Travis and Alan will continue to troll this and other boards, baiting individuals with their upsetting comments and inability to read what others have posted. You see, I'm not smarter than Travis and Allan, just a lot less creepy and a lot more willing to listen. Oh, and a whole lot less tollerant of bullies and trolls, no matter who they are or how much they intend to donate. There's no class of citizen that gets to mock others without an occassional smackdown. Constructive criticism is one thing and wholly acceptable; destrictive nit-picks is another and should be given a "short, sharp, shot."

I'm sure we'll get to discuss this ad nauseum. For now, bed, and a sweet memory of sitting on the dark front steps of Main Building listening to the Blues play at the ampitheatre while storm clouds scud over the tall main lawn trees. Ah, I do so love that campus. -- Jason
