[Alumni-chat] Good news and birthday bash

Speaking from inside the Ohio boarder and from a community college foundation, I can tell you that Strickland's agenda is to boost access to and coordination of the public higher ed system in the state and is actually cutting some of the funding to the privates. I honestly don't know what his position would be on the College.

DeWine has, over the years, deflected his ties to Yellow Springs and is currently teaching at Cedarville University. Hobson (R) has always been a supporter of Antioch and has shown up for most things over the years, including McGregor's ground breaking.

There was some conversation with John Lithgow years back to do something in honor of his dad but that never seemed to lift him up too high. I had been thinking about Ken Jenkins, now staring in Scrubs, since he was in touch with Antioch for a number of years and always supportive. Also, an honorary degree was given to Martin Sheen and he's from Dayton, although not an alum. All of the living MacArthur winners have been to campus during the sesquicentennial celebration a few years back.

Anyway, some random thoughts. We do have some alumni contacts who work with notable speakers of all sorts and have been able to get discounts. It would be nice to get someone willing to do it for a fee of "poultry" proportions.

Also, check the noteworthy alumni list at http://www.antioch-college.edu/Alumni/noteworthy/index.html for some ideas.
