  Thanks for continued updates regarding the critical events now unfolding in Yellow Springs, Ohio which will determine the fate of Antioch College.  I am grateful to those who posted further updates, and I know others all over the world (not just the USA!) paying attention to current events concerning Antioch College's fight for survival are also grateful for news updates about what's happening.
   
  Assuming the Antioch University Board Of Trustees makes a decision announcement tomorrow, Saturday, Oct. 27, 07 by 4 PM as one of the update posts stated seems to be the case, AND assuming the AU BOT does the right thing and keeps Antioch College, Ohio OPEN past the previously announced closedown threat date of July 2008.....a LOT of work is ahead for everyone who cares for and about Antioch.
   
  The huge damage that the AU BOT has done by making national news proclaiming Antioch as a failed school MUST be reversed, and this must be done aggressively.
   
  It IS possible to "make lemonade out the lemon" created here.
   
  The world, and especially college cound students, need Antioch College and an Antioch College type of education as it never did before.  Antioch is didfferent and better than other schools, always was. NOW, it's time to talk about it, and take off the gloves regarding the short comings of so-called establishment schools like Harvard, Princeton, Yale,  Stanford and those which serve the upper classes or promise promotion to the upper classes if/when people attend those schools.
   
  It's also time to take off the gloves regarding "get educated easy" schools like the Unvierstiry Of Phoenix, Kaplan University, and the schools advertised daily on computer email sites offering "career training" for a laundry list of job catagories.
   
  There's not much of a future ahead today for kids not already rich and plugged into big money, or who are bought "careers" like the one G.W. Bush was bought by his family which led to a series of shell game business deals which enabled Bush II to buy a huge ranch in Texas, get to be Texas governor with no previous experience in any office, then USA President after doing nothing as Texas governor.  It's been all about privilege for Bush II, and he's the current poster boy showing that in the USA, the upper classes still have the upperhand (got that phrase from Noel Coward's song THE STATELY HOMES OF ENGLAND).
   
  An Antioch education prepares people not part of all this, or who don't believe in leadership by such as Bush II even if they are part of his class.  An Antioch education prepares people for the future by combining the best of exposure to higher ed classroom studies in a residential setting, and sending these same people to co-op experiences beyond campus confines and limitations...all while the students are still in their teens and early 20's.
   
  The RESULTS of an Antioch education are astonishing and always have been.  The laundry list of high accomplishment Antiochians goes at least into the triple and quadruple digets, and it's no accident these people got their start in little Yellow Springs, Ohio, at Antioch College.
   
  It's critical now to get the word out about why high school students should choose Antioch for undergraduate residental work, and stay the course until they get an Antioch degree.  Antioch makes a difference and is better than other schools at a time in USA and world history when this was never more important.
   
  So.....assuming the AU BOT does the right thing tomorrow, and Antioch stays open....it's time to get going IMMEDIATELY on reversing the damage the AU BOT did (which should never be forgotten or discounted or forgiven...let's not be grateful victims just because the bullies stopped beating up on us) and it's time to promote Antioch College as never before.  
  The telling of Antioch's story needs to be done well.  This has not happened in decades.
   
   Part of the mess which occurred recently is that this has NOT been done attractively or adequately.  It's important to be sober about that, and NOT return to the lackluster promotion and explanation about Antioch which failed us all in the past.
   
  Antioch cannot be a success unless it looks like a success.  There's a great story out there to tell about Antioch and Antiochians, past and present.  It's time to do a GOOD job of telling that story.
