Antioch College is not the one thats been failing.
Antioch University Administration is the one that's
been failing. I've started thinking of the past 22
years of Antioch College history in about 4 periods:
early Guskin, late Guskin, Decentralization with
College Centrality, and University/Financial. (the
last period had a sub-period; Lawry's presidency,
however it was still largely under
University/Financial, as evidenced by the University's
declaration of closure). What has happened since 2001
is a series of non-strategic financial decisions, made
entirely by the University (with BoT support), largely
as the result of external events. The result is the
College program suffered. NOT the other way around.

Uh, not quite. It closed because it was UNSUCCESSFUL
in raising money to sustain itself. It bled University
money for the final years of its existence. Its
mission was noble, but one the DC establishment failed
to support. Guskin indicated that the lack of funding
in the way of grants and gifts from the DC area was
surprising, given the law school was satisfying a
previously unmet need (and likely still unmet,
following the law schools closure).

I quote myself:
"And if such a setup were to happen, would the College
community be agreeable to the identity shift of
Antioch "College" as a separate identity in YS, and
simply have the campus in Yellow Springs be in its
entirety 'Antioch University'? Not AU Yellow Springs,
with a chancellor removed from the undergraduate
institution, but simply Antioch University, with
faculty, staff and student democracy, and tenured
undergraduate and graduate faculty? With leadership
from the campus with the national reputation?"
