>The ongoing shady actions of the BOT and University administration since June (despite their stated desire to "cooperate") does not help.
Yeah, despite all the "Good News" there's zero cooperation. There is dig in your heels by the BoT led by Toni.
At this point it's ludicrous that there is not a LOUD statement to the world that Antioch College is completely backed and fully funded by the university and will NOT close now and will NOT close as long as any of the Antioch campuses exist. That it was a poor decision to prematurely announce a closure. Duh! Why not come out and state the truth? Seems like those in the media spotlight with a semblance of intelligence have learned by now to come out and take a modicum of responsibility right away, and thereby dissipating some of the anger and fight by opposing persons.
There should also be a commitment to some sort of separation between the Main College and the rest of the university.
It's wonderful to have other schools in the university, I'm sure there are some outstanding classes. In the school I just attended I had some phenomenal teachers, though the place was basically a diploma mill.
My belief is however... Antioch College can not be sustained effectively if it's practices *contradict* what it teaches. Plus it's damaging. You're wanting to teach students to look at systems and ethics and engaging in communities and working together and access and shared governance and equity and all the great things Antioch College stands for... and yet underneath the facade is a tangle of egos and power-hungry people without integrity or positive values? Maybe people could throw money at it but at it's core it would be rotten.
Anyway I support a press release announcing a strong and permanent commitment to the college, a commitment to work on significant separation between the College and rest of university, a commitment to a shared governance at the College, and a broad outreach to alumni asking for financial support.
