>When we say "THEIR sky" we miss the essential point that we are in a position, at this point in time, in which we share the sky (if we are lucky and I'm not sure we are as I have expressed ad infinitum in previous posts). Is the U the only group of cynics? They hate us, we hate them. Nobody gets anywhere. It's a waste of energy.
For all your supposed desire and pleas for us to see shades of grey, you obviously can't read between any black and white lines to access and therefore understand the essence of what I am saying. C'mon people, use your brains and read and comprehend.
The Chancellor, other University administrators and definitely some members of the BOT are and have been openly hostile to Antioch College to the point that they are now attempting once and for all to close the College. These very same people have already and will continue to rely on and use the reputation and accomplishments of Antioch College and its graduates (not Antioch University graduates) to sell the University. The ongoing shady actions of the BOT and University administration since June (despite their stated desire to "cooperate") does not help. Showing contempt and disrespect towards the College, its faculty, staff and students is not going to inspire my or many other's sympathies.
I fully understand that we must negotiate with the University and its administrators to ensure that the College stays open past June 2008. I'm not an idiot. But that does not mean that in the context of Lesley's original post that it should not be mentioned that the University has long ridden on the coattails of the College -- indeed would not EXIST without the College -- and that it is inexcusable that the University has not properly devoted its energies to making sure the College remained the vital center and heartbeat of the University.
