Hey there Arthur Dole....
Founder's Day actually was pretty decent....with summerish weather.....
Channel 2 from Dayton filmed the parade and showed it on the 6PM news...I
got home late and waited to
see it at 11pm..but at that time on Friday...it's 15 minutes of world news
and then 15 minutes of football fever. ah the midwest...
Dennie Eagleson, photography professor, took about 200 photos...and they
will be posted in places...and it was
video taped throughout the day as well.
My neighbor saw me carrying the large poster of Horace....
After the parade at the stoop.....Jim Rose, retired theater faculty, read
a speech from an old play as Horace
(Testament of Faith) and then I read yours to about 100 folks of so.
Had to holler since there was no sound system at that pernt. I am shy but
did my best...Jimmy Rose was a hard
act to follow...
There were some bits of laughter and some applause...and amazingly most
folks really resonated with your
thoughts. ..and your wishes.....
I have the text saved...sent to me from Chelsea (CM)...but in transit a
few oddities appear. After we clean it up
we would like to post your thoughts on alumni-chat and elsewhere...and
would like to get some of Jim Malarkey's
lunctime lecture out there as well. It wuz hot stuff. Not at all dry
or overly pedantic...imagine Arthur Morgan
floating down the Mississippi taking odd jobs......the seeds of a great
brainstorm....experiential ed.
Folks laughted at your reference to the chastity police and Lady Alice
Bingle...
and certainly agreed with your last words..
"that's a lot of work. It will take time. I hope you will all pitch in"
(about the current scenario)
Don Wallace......r u there? Let's get Art's script cleaned up and out for
all to enjoy.... Duffy
