Dear Community,
We can now provide the community with information regarding a memorial
service celebrating Elaine Comegys' life. The celebration will be held in
the Glen Helen Building on Saturday, December 8, at 2:00 pm. If you wish
to bring finger food for the celebration, this would be welcomed by the
family.
Elaine joined Antioch in the summer of 1973 as an assistant professor of
experiential education in the Center for Experiential Education after
serving as program assistant for the Master of International
Administration Program at the School for International Training in
Brattleboro, Vermont. In 1977, Elaine was appointed to the newly created
position of Coordinator of Community Activities in the Dean of Students
Office. In this role, Elaine's objective was to give community members
(students, faculty, staff, and the Miami Valley townspeople) a better
understanding of how others feel. Between 1984 and 1995 Elaine served as
the Associate Dean of Students. She also served as Acting Dean of
Students during 1991-92. Elaine completed her Antioch career by serving
as a visiting co-op faculty member from 1995 through 1998. She retired in
June 1998.
Elaine passed away Wednesday, November 21, and is survived by her son
Marco, daughter Danielle and granddaughter Alisha.
