Hello Pilgrims .....and some turkeys I would suppose...
Thanksgiving is rapidly approaching..and folks are heading over the river
and through the woods .....
on the hound and jetblue..
and one of the things I can be most THANKFUL for is that the suspension is
lifted....
it would be ashame to lose it all......all the good folks who have hung in
here in bad times and some good ones..
and the collective legacy out there..all the way from Art Dole and Katy
Jako to Tim Noble and Rowan Kaiser...
Alexander Calvert who is visiting from Denver with only five credits to
go....
and hundreds of folks too numerous to list.
and hopefully we can continue to build on this revival movement in between
the normal antiochianness of venting
and vetting....and kretching and vetching....
and if you were a current student going home well..there is now another
option to football or parades on TV..
you can hop on a computer at grandma's house and read your course
reserves on line.
One of the professor's in a Peace Studies course..herself ..went home to
"grandma's" but had her readings
put on-line this week..... So if you want the alternative option to
football and don't want to tawk to the family..
well you can excuse yourself polielty and then go read ninety pages of
"Ecological security" as long as know your name and your barcode and can
get
to the library (OPAL) website.
and a true Antiochian will avoid all those Black Friday Actvities as well.
so "ecological security" is the best bet.
If anyone wants to become a member of the i.love.olive.org group please
contact
TimothyNoble at gmail.com....
if you are a librarian that would be a plus.....or if you have a
passion for academic libraries as well.
If you know any libraries or passionate academics (someone like Kim
McQuaid, eh) please
ask them to consider joining as well.
Hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving and takes some time to be thankful.
A few years ago when we had a Community Manager who was part
native-american a giant banner was hung
from the Student Union..
It blazed the words "CHOKE ON GENOCIDE".. It certainly rankled me at
the time and probably annoyed some
more conservative passerbys..but in retrosect and with a sense of
humor....it certainly was someone right.
and so Antiochian..what they might have said in the early sixties..""You
have to re-evaluate your basic
assumption". That sign did challenge folks to do so but was perceived as
toxic culture......anyhoo
Be careful what you swallow including the turkey (or tofurkey)...
Yours from somewhere between Grandma's house and utopia...
Duffy 77 and the years since.
Please network with friends and colleagues..
have they discovered antiochians.org? or gallery.antiochians.org?
those pictures speak volumes....
This is currently a gmail group but may morph into another antiochians.org
sorta thing. a website is in the works.
I think Joe Cali would have us join as long as we don't all down.
