The Antioch Update issued today, with its statement from Toni and Andrej, contains the following, into which I have inserted a couple of questions. Can anyone help me/us out here on these matters? Steve Wasby '59

2) GOVERNANCE: The University Board of Trustees will move swiftly to organize a governance model that will create an empowered Antioch College Board of Trustees that will best serve the stated mission of the College. This process was begun by the Board of Trustees 18 months ago,

I had thought that the BofT had done nothing about a separate Board for the College until forced to do so by community (alumni) pressure within the last couple of months. What is this "18 months ago"? Or does "This process" refer to some other governance model (which would have excluded the College completely)?

and still requires careful study and reviews. In the interim we will appoint a College advisory body, possibly as early as December 1, 2007.

= Oh! We will have a "College advisory body" "possibly" by next month? But no indication as to when the supposed new COLLEGE Board of Trustees would be formed. Am I wrong in seeing yet another in the endless series of stalls?
If a car stalled this often, someone would have replaced its sparkplugs -- but there aren't few on the present Board (sorry: couldn't resist), or at least none firing -- while many deserve to be "fired" (sorry, I meant administrators).

The members of this body will help to design and establish the permanent Antioch College Board of Trustees and will be an integral part of the search process for recruiting a new College President of national stature.
   3) ACCREDITATION AND ADMISSIONS: We are already seeking permission to extend our accreditation for current and transfer students to at least 2010 and are hopeful that this permission will be granted very soon. In the meantime, we can prepare to recruit transfers actively and enthusiastically.

= Enthusiastically? What about "honestly"? And what about freshmen -- this speaks only of transfers being recruited.
