Your premise that the college could not attract sufficient students is
what I disagree with. There seems to be a vocal group who believe
that the College has failed and needs to re-invent itself from
scratch. 180 degrees of brand new novelty to attract what it couldn't
before.
I believe that constant cutting of the pieces that made Antioch
successful is what has led us to this point. The fact that admissions
was again rebounding after the disastrous mandated curriculum change
despite the years of under budgeting as well as serious cuts to
services proves that there are always people looking for the Antioch
model.
I am not opposed to looking at new ideas but I am opposed to throwing
out or denigrating what Antioch is today as a reaction to the position
the college has been forced into. Nurture it and it will grow.
Continue to cut services and it will whither and die. It's pretty
self evident to me and I wish it was to those the College was
entrusted as well. Now we move forward and rebuild what was cut
(again).
The College Lives! :)
