Sistersara, I know you love to tread out your baseless
history that everything post guskin was evil and
should be given a merciful death, but its simply not
true.

Antioch College had 2-3 years of balanced budgeting in
98-00.
Antioch College received top marks in the NCSSE
report.
Antioch College had the highest retention rates for
decades in 2001
Budget cuts in 01-03 were almost ENTIRELY caused by
the stock market crash. Yes, there are CFO statements
in publically available documents that support this.
EVERYONE had problems immediately following 9/11.

The NCA accredidation team, pre-renewal commission,
had NO problems with the program at Antioch College.
They had issues with governance, budgeting, physical
plant, availability of resources, but NONE with the
Program of Antioch College.

I will admit to one thing- in 2001, given the
financial aid market conditions, the College's budget
for Admissions, and the physical plant of the College,
we had apparently reached the level of recruitment
that we could do with those available resources. What
was needed in 2001 was an investment in those areas,
and what we got instead was $2mil of expense cuts.

One thing we do agree on, is you can't keep cutting
faculty and staff (and student support), and expect
the program to grow.

The Faculty of the College are already working on the
curriculum and the program. Our faculty are as good as
our students- give them the resources they need, and
they'll be wildly successful.

And as far as technology infrastructure goes, the cost
is in the hardware and the support, both of which have
been removed from the College by the University's
centralization & relocation. Wiring, if done right, is
only an intial cost, not recurring.

We all want the College to be successful, renowned,
and excellent. There are many stakeholder groups
involved. Those groups will have primary
responsibility in many areas- and the on-campus
community should have the lead in programmatic
decisions and changes. That is how you get buy-in,
participation, and success.
