[Alumni-chat] current status of Antioch

As the mom of a current Antioch student, I am angered and saddened by
many of the posts on this board that put down the current students. I
am not denying problems, but there are so many positives. My daughter
is currently in a co-op in France. She had never been to Europe until
the opportunity was given to her to attend French class there between
her first and second years at Antioch. Her academic courses have been
rigorous, and challenging. Her advisor is wonderful. Her first co-op
was in Santa Fe at the Art Institute there, and she had a great
experience. In her first year, she was a part of the new learning
community, which has since changed, but she said she had some classes
she wouldn't have chosen that turned out to be extraordinary.
I am an alum of the University of Cincinnati (under-grad) and the
University of Denver (grad.). While both are good schools, I never had
the kind of life changing, positive experiences my daughter is having.
Hopefully she will be able to graduate from Antioch, and I am very
proud of that. Don't assume everything about the current state of
student life at Antioch is bad! Reach out to the current students.
They want to help you save their school.
