Hello, fellow alums,
The Antioch University Board of Trustees will meet this coming week
at Antioch New England, in Keene, New Hampshire. The fate of the
College will be under discussion.
The AC3 has not disbanded (though it is not now negotiating with the
Trustees). The Alumni Board is working as hard as ever for the sake
of the College's future. So there remain grounds for hope of a
satisfying resolution to the crisis around the College.
A few of us in the Boston chapter have drafted the following letter
to the Trustees. May I ask you to look it over and reply to me ASAP
if the letter (approximately) represents your point of view. If it
does, please do reply, for the sake of solidarity.
I must hear from you no later than noon on Tuesday for your voice to
be heard.
Many thanks,
Barbara
> Dear Trustees of Antioch University:
>
> As you prepare for your first Board of Trustees meeting since the
> breakdown of negotiations with Antioch College Continuation
> Corporation, the Boston alumni chapter would have you know the
> following:
>
> We remain passionate about Antioch College.
>
> It has become clear to our chapter that the College must be
> independent from the University if it is to regain the support of
> its alumni and sustain itself. As neighbors and friends of Antioch
> New England, we also believe that independence for the College is
> in the best interest of the University.
>
> We call on you to exhibit the leadership and vision necessary to
> secure the College's independence.
>
> Antioch College can count on our full support if you resolve the
> current crisis swiftly. If you are unable to do so, we fear that
> frustration and disillusionment will permanently alienate our
> chapter---and all Antioch College alumni.
>
> Very truly yours,
